Two Top Honor Award Winners will go to New York for the

2012 National High School Musical Theatre Awards: The Jimmy Awards

San Jose, CA — June 4, 2012  San Jose Stage Company and Broadway San Jose are pleased to announce the winners of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Two Bay Area students, Nicholas Wetherbee and Hanna Berggren, were also chosen for Outstanding Performance by an Actor and Actress in a musical to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards: 2012 JIMMY Awards, where they will perform at The Minskoff Theatre, a Broadway stage.

Local high school students learned on Monday, June 4th at the California Theatre in downtown San Jose, at a gala ceremony worthy of red carpet pomp and circumstance, that they were winners in various categories in the 2012 Stage Top Honor Awards.  From Best Actress and Actor, Costume or Hair and Make Up Design, to Lighting and Scenery, and Orchestra and Chorus, the winners and their fan clubs celebrated.

“Each year the schools are bringing their “A” game and this year was no exception,” said Spencer Williams, Director of Education for the San Jose Stage Company.  “We have a high school theatre community that is fiercely committed to excellence as evidenced at the Gala Award’s performance from the seven nominated schools in Outstanding Productions.”

All public and private schools in the Bay Area are invited to participate in the 4th annual 2013 Stage Top Honor Awards. The season will begin this October 2012 and run through May 2013. There is more information at www.thestage.org.
